The sub-continent India consists of 28 different states and seven locally run union territories. It is estimated that there lives more than one billion people in India, they have 18 national languages as well as a many minority languages. Hindi is the dominating language but since it is a former English colony they also speak some English, mostly in the middle and upper class.
