Mooni Sports Club : Background information

The winter 2002 went Gerald Ngotowa up for Moonis thoroughfare the little red-sand road. He was on his way to Pastor James Malele and his thoughts focused on one thing - basketball. Together with a local donor and the church began the land a building of a basketball. When the donor withdrew, it became difficult to give courage to Gerald and his friends who did not see any possibility of either put marram at the court or buy balls. The project rann into the sand. At the same time had Afrikaklassen, Österlens Folkhögskola, arrived to Mooni. Soon they bought a football and the village's young kids came to take part in the match. It was about some coins for us while a ball here in the village could mean a monthly salary. We therefore asked the loved ones for help. 3000 Skr were collected, which made that we had the chance to build something bigger. That's when we met James and Gerald. We definitely shared the same vision and wanted to create a focal point for the children and young people irrespective of religion and economic conditions. The day after it was Afrikaklassen, Gerald gang and some children outside the church to resume work on the plan.
Together Our non-profit workforce declined radically, and after a few days was one of the Afrikaklassen and Gerald alone among the gravel and picks. The others in Afrikaklassen had continued their field trip through Africa. Opportunists who saw a chance to get something personally had disappeared. Those who felt sensations of pleasure that a group of white manual workers had changed its role from work to audiences. We refused to give up, and as people saw progress came the non-profit workforce back. This time, it consisted of young people with whom shared our dreams and visions. The first target was already reached when we created something together, and the differences between us was deleted. A month later the court was also completed. The non-profit work has given new hope and laid the foundations for a future strong sports club. But above all, it has given a court to Gerald, Ritha, Derek, Brenda, and all the others in the village at the little red-sand road.
