Support for Education : Ongoing Projects
During field studies in Uganda a Swedish class from Österlens folkhighschool, in Sweden, gathered money to support a young woman with the right of education. Farida Mutoni, then 17, had to drop out of the local school primarly because of financial reasons.
In co-operation with Twiga a project was founded to finans Faridas education. She then had the opportunity to continue her secondary education at a boarding school from where she graduated two years later.
After passing her exams at secondary school Farida was accepted at Islamic university in September 2005, where she started a three year education in Bachelor of Development Studies.
The school, a boarding school in Mbale, was founded in 1988. Since then it has grown and has today 2300 students. Trough out the years students from many different countries has graduated from the school.
The money that is gathered for Faridas education, primarly through autogiro, pays for the tuiton fee, books, school material and other expenses that are involved in her education. Farida finishes her education in august 2008.
